How seriously are we supposed to take this kid if the hyperbole (s)he could muster is only "most worthy".

ha ha. the greater ani is the species that I study. It's pronounced "ah-nee." And I suppose more than one of them are anis. Like crux.
thank god I already have a field assistant, because the e-mails are getting weirder and weirder. that was only one example.
